Somebody Sue the Democratic Party in Florida and Michigan

It is time for people to file lawsuits in Florida and Michigan to count all the votes cast in the primaries held there.  There is a U.S. Supreme Court case United States v. Classic which has held that, whether in a general election or in a primary, each vote legitimately cast must be counted.  It's a safe bet that good people in Florida and Michigan still believe that in a democracy each individual vote should count. I hope those same good  people will immediately start the legal processes to ensure that the Democratic Party adheres to the law.

After watching Recount on HBO this weekend it amazes me that the Democratic Party has forgotten the lessons of 2000.  They lost the Florida vote then and it cost them the Presidency.  They are poised to do it again.  As I watched the film, I kept hoping for a happy ending, even though I knew that it would not happen.  This time around there is still time for a happy ending.  An ending where a court of law stands up for the right of every voter to have their vote counted.  Anyone who is against counting votes should be ashamed of themselves for putting their own selfish interests above the will of the people.

Yes, I have heard the arguments.  They didn't campaign and Obama took his name off the ballot in Michigan.  So what!  People voted and their votes should count!  In fact that's the law and the very foundation of this country.  We count votes!

The Democratic Party is showing that it is just plain stupid.  In fact, each and every day that I watch this fiasco unfold it makes me sick to my stomach, very much the same way I felt the other night when I watched the film Recount.  We should have run into the streets with outrage in 2000 and we should be prepared to do the same this year if every vote is not counted.  To do any less is too surrender our democracy to those who are prepared to just take it away.  It is sad that people in the Democratic Party have suddenly forgotten how important it is to count votes, when just eight years ago many of the very same people where praying that the United States Supreme Court would allow the votes to be counted in Florida.

So, who will be the good people who file those lawsuits?

Obama DID campaign in Florida.

According to the DNC Rules he loses ALL of his delegates for that state.

That is another reason he did not want FL votes to count.

Sen. Obama may have taken his name off the ballot but his staff/volunteers campaigned for him. People were told to vote "uncommitted" for Obama."got a comment from one Abby Dart, the deputy director of Michiganders for Obama. Dart wrote that "we are running an aggressive campaign to elect our slate of Michigan Obama delegates. We aren't going to let the Clinton campaign gain any of our hard fought for uncommitted delegates."
