Is President George W. Bush a Horse Thief?

According to the Wikipedia President George W. Bush may very well be a horse thief:

The term horse thief came into great popularity in the  USA during the 19th century. During that time the Great Plains states, Texas, and other western states were sparsely populated and negligibly policed.  As farmers tilled the land and migrants headed West through the Great Plains their horses became subject to theft. Since these farmers and migrants depended on their horses, horse thieves garnered a particularly pernicious reputation because they left their victims helpless or greatly handicapped by the loss of their horses. The victims needed their horses for transportation and farming. Such depredation led to the use of the term horse thief as an insult, one that conveys the impression of the insulted person as one lacking any shred of moral decency.

When President Bill Clinton left office in 2000, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $1.26 per gallon.   Today under President George W. Bush the average price for a gallon of gas is $3.56, with a high of $3.66 in the Central Atlantic states.  Which leads me to ask the question, is President George W. Bush a modern day horse thief?  Today's horses our the automobiles we drive.  We need them just as much as the cowboy needed his horse back in the day.  As the price of gas skyrockets we are slowly but surely losing our right to use the automobiles we drive to go to work, go about and do the things we need to do to survive.

Punishment for stealing horses in the Wild West was harsh, most offenders were hung in the public square.   Bill Clinton lost re-election as Governor of Arkansas after his first term in Office because of an ill advised motor vehicle tax, the people of Arkansas punished him .  He learned from his mistake and protected gas prices throughout his Administration.

So the question I ask, is President George W. Bush a modern day horse thief?  Make sure you respond in Our Poll of the Week section.

One final thought, in 1793, the first person in Tennessee punished as a horse thief  had his face branded, and received 39 lashes in the public square.  His name was John McKain.
